“To say A.W. and Jasmine are old souls is an understatement to say the least! They are poised for worldwide recognition in an amazing genre-bending ride through American blues and folk.” – Duke Robillard
Blue Moon Marquee is a swingin’ blues duo/band currently living on the coast of the Salish Sea. Their latest album (2019), Bare Knuckles & Brawn, made #1 in both jazz and blues genres on the Earshot National Roots and Blues charts. Vocalist/guitarist A.W. Cardinal and vocalist/bassist/drummer Jasmine Colette a.k.a. Badlands Jazz perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves. Colette, the rhythm section, not only commands the upright bass, but also brings the swing with her feet on the kick drum, snare, and high hat, all while singing harmonies. Cardinal performs electrifying jazz-tinged blues guitar complimented by distinctive, smoky vocals.
This special performance will feature Grammy-nominated jazz/blues guitarist Duke Robillard, who was praised by B.B. King as “one of the great players,” has previously collaborated with Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Herb Ellis, and more, and last played in Victoria during TD Victoria International JazzFest in 2009. This concert will preview Blue Moon Marquee and Duke Robillard’s collaborative project, Scream Holler & Howl, which releases in September 2022. With Darcy Phillips keyboards, Jerry Cook saxophone
